If you cannot find an engagement ring that fits your standard then you have the option to design you own ring a one of a kind creation. You may want a larger stone than you can find or to add a couple other stones.

 

Your jeweler can give you the option of choosing a setting or you may want to have the ring made exclusively for you this makes the ring very personal. Then you can choose the stones you would like placed in the ring.

Maybe you have a ring from a family member that has passed away or some other ring with sentimental value. You can take the ring to a jeweler and have some stones added or some other modifications so it not only has the sentimental value but it is also unique.

 

If money is of know concern you cannot only have the ring made to your specifications you can have a personally cut diamond. This is very expensive so you need to be sure this is they way you want to go because you may use the money for the wedding or honeymoon.

you can use cubic zirconia or moissanite to keep the cost down but still design your own engagement ring. Cubic zirconia is considered not a very good replacement for a diamond but moissanite is very close to a diamond in brilliance and strength but the clarity does not compare.

 

When you design your own engagement ring you probably do not want to a soft stone such as pearls or opals because if they are hit or abused they will scratch. On the other hand your finance may not like diamonds so you will have to design your engagement ring so you can incorporate a stone such as emeralds or sapphires these ca add some beautiful color.

 

When developing the band you may want to consider using white gold instead of traditional gold. Some may think that white gold is a cheap replacement to gold. The truth is that 18-carat white gold is the same weight as traditional gold at 18 carats. What makes the difference in the two is the alloys that are used gold uses copper, zinc, and white gold uses silver or palladium but the gold stays at 75% in both. So if someone tells you that white gold is a cheap alternative to gold you can let them know these facts and then they design and engagement ring using white gold.
